Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan carriers will be able to use, before the term established, the quota of authorizations for the transport of goods to Russia, which was to be released staring from 1 October 2020.
Thus, Moldovan carriers will be able to use 4,000 authorizations beginning with September, which were planned for the fourth quarter of the 2020 year.
According to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI), this year, Moldova was to use 16,000 authorizations, 8,000 in the first half of the year and by 4,000 – for the last two quarters.
Yet, in late last May, the quota of 8,000 authorizations in the goods transport, provided by Russia for the first half of this year, was already exhausted; thus, carriers ran the risk to no longer be able to deliver goods to the Russian market.
Following more approaches made by MEI, the Russian authorities accepted the anticipated release of the goods authorizations.
The quota of authorizations for the international transport of goods to Russia is annually negotiated between Moldova and Russia at meetings of the joint commissions in the field. In the last year, the Moscow authorities increased the number of authorizations. While in 2019, the quota was of 15,000 authorizations, the quota is 16,000 for 2020.
