Moldovan parliament maintains providing of one-off 16,000-lei-worth support for medical employees infected with COVID-19

Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament adopted a package of measures to back medical employees, farmers, in the conditions of the economic effects triggered by COVID-19 and the drought, in the final reading today.   

Under the documents approved by the MPs, the one-off 16,000-lei-worth support for medical and Interior Ministry (MAI) employees infected with COVID-19 at work was maintained. At the same time, the lawmakers passed the amendments to the law on the single salary payment system in the public sector. The amendments see that the volume of teaching activities, carried out by teachers, including the ones with leadership offices, is not limited for the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. These provisions will regard more than 3,900 teachers from early education institutions, primary, high school, lyceum and extra-school education.    

Also, the parliament ruled to subsidize the interest paid starting from 1 May 2020, no matter the period when the loan was borrowed. The sum of the value added tax (VAT) liable for reimbursement will represent the cumulative sum of the land tax paid for 2020 and the salary tax for the period which meets the one of the VAT’s return. The solutions proposed take into account the initiatives identified through   consensus by the working group on parliamentary platform, with the participation of all factions.   

Also, a moratorium on fiscal controls at farmers hit is to be established till 31 December 2020.
