Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu participated today in a joint meeting with President Igor Dodon and Speaker Zinaida Greceanii. They discussed of the previous week and issues on the agenda of the next few days, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The premier reminded the importance of the laws approved on Friday in parliament, and noted the rectification of the budget and the package of conditions provided by the new program with the International Monetary Fund.
Agriculture has been the issue on the agenda. He said that despite the drought, this year's harvest of wheat, corn and sunflower is enough to cover domestic needs. At the same time, the premier announced that AIPA continues to receive the requests of the economic agents whose crops from group-I have suffered from bad weather conditions. The government will try to identify resources to provide support for farmers who have group-II crops affected by natural disasters.
The Prime Minister spoke about the law that provides for the liquidation of the economic police from 1 January 2021. Thus, the police will no longer be able to verify the economic agents, and some competences in this regard will return to the State Fiscal Service.
Chicu also pointed out the ratification in parliament of the financing agreement with the EU worth 100 million euros. Thus, the first tranche of the macro-financial assistance package (Omnibus), worth 50 million euros, would reach our country in late September.
He expressed indignation at the populist initiatives of some MPs who blocked the proposal to help unemployed veterans.
"The project sees provision of medical policies for veterans who are not employed. Also, the project reads social increases for the descendants or wives of veterans. The draft was worked out by the government, then submitted to the parliament, and there the maximum irresponsibility of some MPs made this noble initiative to be compromised. I hope the MPs will return to this project and adopt the initiative, and the veterans will get free assistance from the government," he said.
