Moldovan PM has discussion with EU Ambassador

Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a meeting with Head of the European Union Delegation in Chisinau, Peter Michalko. The two officials discussed the European Union-Moldova bilateral relations and possibilities of strengthening the partnership, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM appreciated the long-lasting support provided to Moldova by the partners from the European Union. Chicu highlighted that the current cabinet so far had managed to approve more drafts which provide for the adjusting of the legislation with the international standards.
Among the subjects discussed by the sides, there were also ones on the organization of democratic and transparent elections, as well as the opening of polling stations in EU member states, in order to ensure Moldovan citizens the right to vote.
The prime minister informed the European official about the progress made by the authorities in the carrying out of the preliminary actions agreed upon with IMF, for signing a new programme with this institution. The sides praised the progress made and found out the major importance for Moldova of the implementation of a comprehensive programme of reforms in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and other international financial institutions.
The officials also informed about the ratification in the parliament of the agreement on financing with EU worth 100 million euros in all.
The prime minister thanked Ambassador Peter Michalko for the support provided by EU and voiced confidence in the continuation of an efficient cooperation and implementation of new development projects.
