Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ -Ten out of those 1,240 general public educations institutions of Moldova carry out their activity in online regime, because of the quarantine, just as in the case of 171 classes. Education, Culture and Research Minister Igor Sarov made statements to this effect today.
According to Sarov, so far, 187 pupils have been detected with COVID-19 and 4,958 were placed in self-isolation regime. Also, 173 teachers have been confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and another 288 teachers were placed in self-isolation. As for the non-didactic and auxiliary staff, 40 people were infected with the new-type coronavirus and 118 are in self-isolation.
„First of all, one may notice that the beginning of the school year has not led to a major increase in the number of infected people, with their number being approximately equal among the general population as compared to the school population. This data shows that, at least so far, the school has not been a source of higher risk than the activities of those non-involved in the education process,’’ Sarov noted.
The minister also said that the number of closed schools in two weeks was the same with the number of schools closed on 1 September. ‘’Yet, just as we expected, we have an increasing number of classes working in online regime because of the virus,’’ Sarov added.
The education minister stressed that measures had been taken to optimize the education process for children, who should stay at home in continuation because of COVID-19.
