More than 20,000 computers to be purchased for schools from Moldova

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ The Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) will deliver to education institutions at least 20,000 laptops, computers and tablets till the end of this year. Education, Culture and Research Minister Igor Sarov made statements to this effect at a news briefing today.
According to Sarov, an unprecedented investment will be made in the online education system in 2020. Most computers (11,500) will be bought through the project, Education Reform in Moldova, managed by MECC and financed by the World Bank. They are to be supplied till the end of this year.
Moldova’s government allocated 20 million lei to ensure a qualitative carrying out of the education process in the general education; thus, about 2,500 laptops are to reach schools till late next October.
On 1 July 2020, the Education, Culture and Research Ministry launched a National Campaign titled, Donate a Computer for Education. In the context of this campaign, 1,136 computers, laptops and tablets have been received.
MECC’s statistics shows that, at present, the primary and general secondary education institutions are endowed with 38,059 computer technology units, of which 32,098 are used on education purposes.
