Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/- Another 30 fruit and grape producers are subject to audit to receive certification GLOBALG.A.P and GRASP showing that their products meet safety and quality requirements and have been produced with care for environment.
According to experts in agriculture, GLOBALG.A.P. standards have been implemented in Moldova over 15 years, and since then about 70 farmers have been certified, and most of them have reconfirmed compliance with requirements every year. More than half of GLOBALG.A.P. certified entrepreneurs were assisted in implementing the standards of the USAID project High Value Agriculture in Moldova (USAID / APM).
Farms are interested to get certificates GLOBALG.A.P. and GRASP, as more importers in the EU and the Middle East ask for confirming implementation of the standards. Thus, the certificates have become a mandatory condition for producers who want to export fruit, grapes or vegetables.
In addition to GLOBALG.A.P. certificates, Moldovan producers are increasingly interested in GRASP certification, which is an additional standard that confirms that household staff matters, especially requested by European buyers. Since 2018, when the first two farmers were GRASP certified in Moldova, the number of GRASP certified farmers has increased to about 20.
