Most small and medium-sized enterprises in Moldova affected by coronavirus pandemic

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/- The Alliance of Small and Medium Enterprises of Moldova presented today the first interactive map of SMEs and assessed the impact that the coronavirus pandemic had on this sector.

Over 300 SMEs managers responded to a questionnaire, based on an analytical report on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on this sector. Thus, it was found that 71 percent of respondents had losses or predict losses following the pandemic.

The author of this report, Andrei Crigan, said that the main concerns of the respondents are related to the payment of salaries and the lack of customers. "42% of respondents are worried or partially worried about the prospect of bankruptcy, and 69 percent said they do not have adequate access to liquidity,” Crigan said.

The data of the analytical report show that 23 percent of respondents returned to their activities in full, and SMEs in tourism, transport, real estate and IT said that there is a possibility to have increases in income at the end of the year.

Respondents to the survey said that in 2021 the activity of SMEs could return to normal.
