Chisinau city hall to participate in European Mobility Week

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau city hall joins the European initiative, European Mobility Week, held on 16-22 September, which promotes alternative forms of ecological transport, in order to convey the message that the mobility enhances the quality of life in cities. This will help reduce the air’s pollution, noise pollution, the number of accidents, as well as cut the number of obese people.
The Moldovan capital’s authorities submitted an application on registration and, along with the community of cyclists, proposed more events, including, The fancy Women Bike Ride Chisinau, Downtown without Vehicle. Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban urges the capital’s residents to accept the challenge and use the bicycle this week, go to work by public transport, bicycle or scooter.
Also, the municipal authorities agreed that the perimeter of the 31 August 1989 Street between the Serghei Lazo and Vasile Alecsandri Streets be used exclusively for pedestrians on 20 September.
Within the European Mobility Week, the city hall will present the project Renovation of 31 August 1989 Street and its transformation into a green corridor. The event will take on the square of the Gheorghe Asachi lyceum on 20 September at 13:00.
On 16-22 September, hundreds of cities from Europe explore practical solutions to improve the quality of the urban life and test solutions of alternative transport.
