Moldovan top court disapproved draft amendment to Constitution

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- The Constitutional Court / CC / today disapproved the government draft to amend the Constitution in order to strengthen the judicial authority.
Constitutional Court President Domnica Manole said that the constitutional judges have reviewed this draft and approved several provisions of the draft.
However, the judges found several provisions that conflict with the constitutional norms and disapproved them.
On 22 January, the cabinet adopted a decision requesting the amendment of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova in order to strengthen the judicial authority.
On 1 July, the government requested approval on the decision from the Constitutional Court.
