Moldovan president meets Ambassador of United Kingdom

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a working meeting with Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Moldova Steven Mark Fisher.
According to the presidential press service, the officials discussed more issues dealing with the bilateral interaction in all mutually advantageous sectors.
The head of state reiterated Moldova’s interest in strengthening the relations with the United Kingdom following the Brexit through the negotiation of an Agreement on Political Partnership and Commerce. The accord will transpose the provisions of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, which will be applied bilaterally and will include both the political component and the economic one of the free trade.
The Moldovan president specified that the governments of the two countries were to undertake needed measures to ensure the proper legal framework, in order to avoid the negative impact on the economic agents after the Brexit, as well as to boost the bilateral commerce.
Referring to the beginning of the electoral campaign, Igor Dodon reconfirmed the Moldovan leadership’s determination to organize free, democratic and fair elections, in accordance with Moldova’s legislation in force and international standards, as well as with the massive involvement of international observers.
