Moldovan foreign minister meets election observation mission head

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Țulea met with Corien Jonker, Head of Observation Mission for the presidential elections and discussed the organization of presidential elections abroad, in accordance with the responsibilities of the MAEIE under the Electoral Code. The officials highlighted the main activities carried out so far both at level of ministry and diplomatic missions and consular offices, MAEIE’s press service has reported.
Tulea noted that MAEIE is under completion of the notice on polling stations abroad, the distribution of which will be decided by the Central Electoral Commission no later than 26 September in a public meeting.
The Moldovan official reiterated the authorities’ commitment to ensure elections in line with international standards, and referred to the willingness to provide necessary assistance to the team of observers involved in monitoring the 1 November presidential election.
The election observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights has so far conducted 14 monitoring elections in Moldova, deploying teams with long-term and short-term observers, and their conclusions and recommendations can be found in reports published on the institution’s website.
