Alarming human rights situation in Transnistria discussed with OSCE Mission to Moldova

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic had an official meeting with Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch, and discussed a wide range of issues on the negotiating agenda, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
Among the topics discussed are several components of the Berlin Plus Package, such as telecommunications, start of the school year for educational institutions teaching in Romanian, new amendments to the legislation in force so as to extend by 2 years period of registration of vehicles with neutral model plates, operation of transport registration centers and respect for human rights in the Transnistrian region.
Human rights violations, which have intensified recently in Transnistria during the pandemic, are particularly alarming, Lesnic said. She requested active and visible involvement of the OSCE in resolving individual cases, as well as ensuring respect for human rights as a norm in Transnistria.
A special issue addressed at the meeting focused on additional responsibilities of the Bureau for Reintegration and the Joint Control Commission during the election. The officials exchanged views on the security of election and citizens.
Also, they approached the latest developments related to the illegal posts installed unilaterally by Tiraspol in the Security Zone, including the overloading of the ferry that connects Molovata — Molovata Nouă.
They broached the issue related to issuing civil status documents for Moldovans living in Transnistria to record events on birth and death.
The sides also discussed the possible organization of a new round of negotiations in the 5 + 2 format, details and agenda of which will be the topic of a permanent dialogue.
