Moldovan diplomacy head participates in annual meeting of Central European Initiative's foreign affairs ministers

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea today participated, in videoconference format, in the annual meeting of the foreign affairs ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI) member states. The event was organized by CEI’s Chairmanship of Montenegro and Executive Secretariat, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.     

The meeting’s agenda comprises discussions on the main challenges faced by those 17 CEI states in the context of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants in the event analyzed measures which are to be implemented nationally and regionally, especially in order to support efforts of minimizing the pandemic’s impact and approaches of improving the social and economic situation in the region.

In his speech, Minister Oleg Tulea stressed the high level of foreign partners’ solidarity and pointed out Moldova’s support for extending the multi-sectoral dialogue within the format of cooperation provided by CEI. At the same time, the Moldovan diplomacy head expressed appreciation for the initiatives launched within the organization, in cooperation with the World Health Organization and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, meant to contribute to counteracting the effects of the pandemic.    

In the end of the meeting, the participants adopted a Decision on the budget of CEI’s Cooperation Fund 2021 and the Decision on the extension of Montenegro’s CEI Chairmanship in 2021.
