Moldovan education ministry signs memorandum with Microsoft

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Education, Culture and research Ministry (MECC) and the Microsoft Company today signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the support for Moldova’s education system.   

Attending the signing event, held online, were: Education, Culture and Research Minister Igor Sarov, the head of the Policies and Economy Department of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, Anne Coleman-Honn, the Microsoft education and business development manager, David Chiaberashvili, the Microsoft Director for Education in the Central and Eastern Europe, Albena Spasova, the head of the information technologies and communications service, Corneliu Ciorici.    

„The key element of this partnership deals with the fact that we will be able to use diverse education platforms, which can be accessed for free, so that we will give access to all pupils and teachers to benefit from this inestimable support. It is important that we note that, jointly with the Microsoft Company, we will facilitate the identification of teaching resources and instruments in the Romanian language, which could be integrated as local sources on the digital platforms from Moldova,’’ the education minister said.   

Following the document’s signing, the education community will be able to benefit from such instruments as Microsoft Teams, which can be used as platform of distance learning and which allows users to organize distance video classes, cooperate between groups and classes, generate tasks of learning and define the deadlines for the homework. Another important instrument is also Microsoft Forms. It is used in the process of assessment, in order to create and share tests, provides the final score after the test is over and the teacher will save time while checking the correctness of the answers.
