Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/ - The old-style Orthodox Christians today celebrate the Elevation of the Holy Cross – the oldest holiday dedicated to the holy wood. The suffering and death of Christ is commemorated on this day.
This day reminds about a significant moment in the life of the Holy Emperors Constantine and Helen. It is about the finding, at an order by Empress Helen, of the Cross on which the Savior was crucified and its elevation.
The Cross Day is honoured by fasting, prayer and festivals. Believers are fasting, in order to have a sound family, well-being and harmony in the home.
