Joint priorities of World Health Organization, Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova discussed during meeting at Reintegration Policies Bureau

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic today and a meeting with the country representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), Igor Pokanevych, and the director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova, Caroline Tissot.
According to the Reintegration Policies Bureau, the sides discussed the marking of the 20th anniversary of the work of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova. The officials noted that projects on development in the local governance sector, economic development, etc. had been carried out on this period. Also, grants have been provided for beneficiaries from the Transnistrian region, through the Confidence Building Programme between both banks of Dniester.
The officials reviewed the activities carried out by WHO and the Swiss Cooperation Office in the implementation of the CBM component.
Cristina Lesnic thanked for the support provided in building bridges of trust between both banks of Dniester and for the commitment to contribute to the well-being of the residents on the two banks of the river. Chisinau backs all initiatives oriented to the well-being of citizens within CBM, Cristina Lesnic specified.
The deputy prime minister also pointed out the present stage in the process of negotiations and expressed Chisinau’s concerns about the worsening of the situations as to the human rights in the Transnistrian region. At the same time, Cristina Lesnic said that she relied on Switzerland’s support for improving the human rights’ situation and stressed the government’s priorities on the human rights’ component.
Caroline Tissot informed that Switzerland was working out a new strategy of cooperation with Moldova for the next four years. In this context, the Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration expressed willingness to contribute to identifying the key priorities, which will stimulate including the confidence in the policies promoted by the government for the residents of both banks and will contribute to Moldova’s reintegration.
The representatives of WHO and the Swiss Office gave assurances that they would maintain the efficient cooperation and transparency of the activities carried out in the Transnistrian region.
