General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports in Chisinau to be reorganized

Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/- The General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports (DGETS) of Chisinau city hall will be reformed to optimize the work of the municipal education system. City councilors approved a new Regulation on the organization and functioning of DGETS, as well as its organizational chart.

According to the Chisinau city hall, the department functionality will be brought in accordance with the current legislation in the field: Education Code and government decision 2015.

The new Regulation sees the reorganization of the territorial education departments, which will become subdivisions of DGETS. At the same time, it is allowed to transfer the primary and secondary education institutions subordinated to DGETS to that of the sector directorates, according to their territorial dislocation.

The reform of the education sector will be organized in two stages: until 31 December 2020 and respectively, until 31 December 2021.

There are 331 educational entities in Chisinau under the management of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports.
