Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- Out of 1,240 schools in Moldova, 19 institutions are in quarantine and continue the studies remotely, as well as 301 classes, in which at least one positive case of COVID-19 was confirmed. Minister of Education, Culture and Research Igor Sarov made the statement today at a briefing on the evolution of the epidemiological situation.

"In the six weeks of studies, 284 pupils have been tested positive for the coronavirus, and 7,186 are currently in isolation at home. Also, 373 teachers became infected with COVID-19, and 373 are in self-isolation ", he said.

According to him, out of the 91 vocational institutions in the country, two have been quarantined due to the detection of 52 pupils and 20 teachers with COVID-19 infection. "At the same time, 17 universities in Moldova apply the mixed education system, and seven - only online. So far, 96 students and 50 teachers have been infected with the new virus. “

The ministry monitors the pandemic dynamics in schools, makes efforts for their preparation of any scenario, provides with computers. "Our basic goal is to keep schools open for as long as possible, to set up restrictive measures where there is no other solution, to ensure the study process with everything necessary, so that we have a quality school and education", he said.

In the academic year 2020-2021, educational institutions in Moldova operate according to seven models, proposed by the ministry under the COVID-19 pandemic. Most schools (964) chose model No1, which provides 100% physical presence at school, and 193 institutions opted for the hybrid education system.
