New centre providing assistance to victims of violence to be set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/ - A Family Justice Centre will be set up in Moldova, which will provide assistance to victims of domestic violence. The centre will be created with the support of the United States.
According to data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), specialists from various sectors, such as justice, police, social assistance and probation, who will assist domestic violence victims, will be concentrated at the centre.
During two days, specialists of Moldova and experts from the USA discuss the U.S. experience in creating the Service, protocols and standards procedures of operation of the Family Justice Centre, at an international event titled, Innovative approaches in combating the sexual violence and gender-based violence.
The Centre’s development is part of the goals of the national strategy of prevention and combating the violence against women and domestic violence. Presently, about 13 specialized centres work in Moldova, which provide services to victims of the domestic violence and four centres meant for family aggressors (one as public institution and three centres managed by NGO).
Statistics data shows that 678 domestic violence cases were recorded in Moldova in 2020.
