Promo-LEX observers register over 440 incidents at today's ballot in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Promo-LEX Mission for Observation of the 1 November 2020 elections of Moldova’s president finds out that 366 out of the overall number of 446 incidents reported by the mission’s observers till 19:00 have been processed.

The observers signaled three cases of obstructing the process of free observation in the polling station; found out ten cases of unjustified presence of unauthorized people at the headquarters of the polling station and four attempts of material or financial reward offered to voters in the perimeter of 100 metres from the polling station.

Also, 21 cases of organized transportation of voters were detected, most to polling stations arranged for the residents from the left bank of Dniester. One case of violence and voters’ intimidation was ascertained at the polling station from the Varnita village.

The presence of advertising materials, posters, electoral panels in the area of the polling station was discovered in 15 cases and another six infringements regarded the electoral agitation. Deficiencies in the work of the State Automated Information System (SIAS) Alegeri (Elections) were registered at 11 polling stations and mistakes were detected in electoral lists in 11 cases too.

Other infringements signaled by Promo-LEX concerned the photographing of ballot papers, group voting, unjustified ceasing of voting, non-observance of measures of COVID-19 protection and prevention.

The mission of observation of the 1 November 2020 elections for the position of Moldova’s president is carried out by the Promo-LEX Association, with financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Democracy, Transparency and Responsibility Programme, Good Governance Department of the Soros Moldova Foundation through the project.
