Foreign affairs ministers of Moldova, Latvia have phone conversation

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a phone conversation with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkēvičs. The two diplomacy heads referred to up-to-date subjects on the agenda of the Moldovan-Latvian cooperation, including actions undertaken by the sides following agreements reached at a visit to Riga by Aureliu Ciocoi in last February, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
Ministers Aureliu Ciocoi and Edgars Rinkēvičs set the priorities of work for the immediately next period, among which: organizing political consultations between state secretaries/deputy foreign affairs ministers, holding the next round of negotiations on the Agreement between Moldova and Latvia in the social security sector, as well as preparing a meeting of the Moldovan-Latvian inter-governmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation, due to take place in the second half of 2021.
In the context, Minister Aureliu Ciocoi highlighted the excellent cooperation and friendship relations between the two states, including through the light of a dynamic and solid political dialogue. The Moldovan diplomacy head made an invitation to Edgars Rinkēvičs to pay a visit to Moldova in the near future. The Latvian official accepted the invitation and the visit’s details are to be given final touches through diplomatic channels.
In the phone conversation, the two ministers discussed also Moldova’s European agenda, reforms’ implementation in accordance with the Association Agreement. In the context, Minister Aureliu Ciocoi thanked his Latvian counterpart for the valuable and constant support provided by Latvia for Moldova’s European integration. He emphasized the importance of taking over Latvian expertise and good practices for developing the priority sectors of Moldova’s economy.
