Moldova, Romania to sign agreement on mutual recognition of education diplomas

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved the starting of negotiations for the signing of an agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on the mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates, scientific and didactic titles, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The agreement will establish the types of education acts, from all levels of education, which are mutually recognized – beginning with the education documents in the general education and ending with the scientific and didactic titles.
At the same time, the accord will regulate the process of reciprocal recognition of the education acts in the higher education, got ahead of the adoption of the Bologna Process. The Bacalaureat diplomas will be mutually recognized and the certificate of secondary education with a duration of 11 years from Moldova will be recognized with Bacalaureat diploma from Romania.
The higher education diplomas (degree and master), issued by the education institutions from both states, will be mutually authorized, including the duration of education, number of credits accumulated, field of education, etc.
The agreement is signed for a five-year period and is automatically extended by a period of by one year, if none of the sides notifies intention to denounce the accord.
