Literature Museum from Moldova launches initiative to declare 2021 year in name of two well-known personalities

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - The 2021 year is an anniversary year for two outstanding personalities of the national culture and science. On 25 July, Vladimir Besleaga will mark his 90th birthday anniversary and on 27 July, Moldova will mark the 100th birthday anniversary of the departed linguist Eugeniu Coseriu. On this occasion, the Mihail Kogalniceanu National Literature Museum came up with an initiative to declare 2021 as year of Eugeniu Coseriu in the science sector and the Year of Vladimir Besleaga – in the literature and culture field.
According to the museum’s director, Maria Sleahtitchi, the request was formulated in an approach submitted to the Education, Culture and Research Ministry. ‘’A similar approach has been recently sent to the acting prime minister, Aureliu Ciocoi. We are ready to present, upon request, informative notes on the scientific and literary activity of the personalities proposed,’’ Maria Sleahtitchi said.
Born in the Mihaileni village, Balti county, now Rascani district, Eugeniu Coseriu (27.07.1921-7.09.2002) was a philosopher of language, writer, university professor, linguist well-known on international stage.
Vladimir Besleaga (born in the Malaiesti village, Grigoriopol district, on 25.07.1931) is writer, publicist, culture man, MP of the first Moldova’s parliament. In 2021, he marks his 90th birthday anniversary.
