Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - The 2020 years was a quite rich year for the poet, dramatist, literary historian and editor Mircea V. Ciobanu. He said, on this period, he had worked as in the old good times, edited works by Ion Heliade Rădulescu, Vlad Ioviță, Mihail Kogălniceanu and Mateiu I. Caragiale and wrote commentaries for more magazines.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Mircea V. Ciobanu said that, although the pandemic had kept people at distance, the pace of work did not decrease and he managed to edit the books planned. ‘’I hope that that the year which has just began would be as productive and fruitful. In 2021, the 100th birthday anniversary of the great philologist Eugeniu Coseriu is marked; who is surely the best known Romanian linguist from all times, born in the Mihaileni village, Balti county. We prepare for printing a volume of exegeses, evocations and dialogues on the work of the scientist, signed by well-known philologists from Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain, as well as from the universities of Bucharest, Iasi, Cluj-Napoca, Chisinau, Balti, etc. We believe that this is the best homage (of which we are able) brought to our fellow countrymen,’’ Ciobanu said.
Mircea V. Ciobanu was born in the Petreni village, northern Drochia district, on 29 February 1956. He graduated from the Chisinau State University, Philology Faculty. He was teacher of Romanian language and literature at the B.P. Hasdeu Lyceum from the Drochia town, lecturer at the Balti-based Alecu Russo University and the Moldovan State University. Presently, he is editor-in-chief of the Stiinta Publishing House.
Mircea V. Ciobanu is author of numerous books. In 2012, Ciobanu was awarded the Order of Honour of Moldova, in 2014 – the Cultural Merit Order in rank of officer of Romania and in 2015 and 2018 – the Award of the Moldovan Writers’ Union.
