European Union's support hub for internal security to be set up in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ - A support hub of the European Union for internal security and border management in Moldova will be created in Chisinau. European Commissioner for Home Affaires Ylva Johansson and Interior Minister Ana Revenco today signed an agreement to this end at the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council, held in the Czech Republic.    

The Chisinau hub’s goals are to consolidate the capacities in the enforcement of the law and management of borders through the optimization of the exchange of information, analyses and external operational cooperation. ‘’The today’s event represents a big step for the peace of the citizens from all over Europe. We strengthen the security belt of Europe at the border with the war together,’’ Ana Revenco said.     

„Since the illegal invasion of Ukraine, we have worked in order to protect our common security and Moldova is an important partner in this respect. The EU’s support hub for internal security and border management in Moldova is a big step for our common security,’’ European Commissioner for Home Affaires Ylva Johansson said.  

The priority activity sectors of the hub are the diminution of risks and threats which were identified jointly with EU. Among them, there are: trafficking of drugs, weapons and human beings, illegal migration, trafficking with radioactive substances and cybernetic crimes.
