First meeting of EU's hub of internal security held in Prague

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - The first meeting of the European Union’s hub of internal security was held in Prague, the Czech Republic, and its subject was the trafficking of weapons and ammunitions. Interior Minister Ana Revenco made statements to this effect at a news conference today.      

The minister said that the participants in the meeting had ruled to endow the hub with modern technology and this is to take place in next autumn. ‘’Also, the participants identified new lines of financing which Moldova can access only in partnership with European Union states. Also, they decided that Moldova will be assisted in the arms sector. The next meetings will be held in August and September this year and their subject will be focused on the trafficking of human beings and the cyber criminality,’’ Ana Revenco also said.    

The official noted that this hub had a major role in the country’s European future. ‘’With the creation of this body, we will have access to modern technologies, to operative data, we will be able to get information quicker, will have access to funds allocated for the hub’s regional activities. All these elements will allow us better knowing the danger and operating the interventions coordinated between partners. Thus, the public security sector from Moldova will work at the European level. Moldova is a small country; therefore, we can cope with all risks and threats only together,’’ Ana Revenco said.      

The agreement on the creation of the European Union’s hub on internal security on 11 July was signed by European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson and Interior Minister Ana Revenco at the EU’s Council of Justice and Home Affairs, held in the Czech Republic.
