Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet, at a today’s meeting, approved a decision on the starting of talks and approving the signing of the Amendment No 1 to the agreement on financing between the Moldovan government and the European Commission on the contract on consolidation of state and resilience for Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The amendment sees an additional financing of 75 million euros (grant), thus increasing the budget of the support programme up to 135 million euros. The first installment, worth 60 million euros, was disbursed in December 2021 and the rest of the sum is to be disbursed in a single installment, after certain conditions are fulfilled.
This budgetary support will back the measures of attenuating the social and economic impact triggered by the increase in prices for natural gas, will enhance the state’s capacity to provide services to the vulnerable groups and will support the efforts to ensure Moldova’s energy security.
