Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted, in the final reading, the legislative amendments which provide for the enforcement of the mechanism of extended confiscation of the wealth gained through corruption acts.
The legislative initiative on the amendment of the Criminal Code belongs to President Maia Sandu. The document sees the completion of the Criminal Code, so that it is possible to confiscate the assets, which were transferred by convict to third persons, in order to avoid confiscation. At the same time, the draft will allow confiscating the assets in the absence of the defendant, in case of death and when he/she does not come to court.
The extended confiscation will be instructed in cases when the value of assets gained by the convict exceeds the sum of 20 average salaries on the economy and he/she cannot present evidence that the assets owned were got by legal means.
