Moldova to attract European funds provided by French Development Agency for development projects

Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will attract European funds provided by the group of the French Development Agency (AFD) for financing national projects. The parliament today ratified the agreement between the Moldovan government and the one of France on the activities of AFD, Proparco and Expertise France in Moldova.

Under the agreement, the funds provided by the AFD group will be used for financing projects on the national development of Moldova. In 2021, AFD received mandate to provide Moldova with assistance through financing instruments and technical expertise. Thus, the Agency will back development projects in such sectors as: re-afforestation and irrigation, modernization of water supply and sewerage systems, electric interconnections and buildings’ energy efficiency.

At the same time, AFD will be able to provide loans, in order to support reform programmes, financing of feasibility studies, investments and financing of the private sector.

The agreement between Moldova’s government and the government of France was signed in Chisinau on 15 June 2022.
