Embassy of Turkey makes donation for Interior Ministry's veterans from Moldova

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Embassy of Turkey in Moldova today organized an event dedicated to the Democracy and National Unity Day.

The participants in the event paid homage to the policemen, servicemen and ordinary citizens of Turkey, who had fought for freedom, democracy and safety of their nation. On this occasion, the Embassy delivered a consignment of 251 parcels with assistance for Interior Ministry (MAI) veterans and the families of the people who died while fulfilling their job duties.

In his speech, Ambassador of Turkey Halil Gürol Sökmensüer paid homage to the heroes who had died while fulfilling their job duties and reaffirmed his country’s message of condemning the terrorism.

Attending the event, the state secretary at the Interior Ministry, Jana Costachi, thanked the Turkish authorities for this symbolical gesture of backing those ‘’who are the nation’s heroes.’’

For the third year in a row, MAI participates in the commemoration of the events which took place in Turkey on 15 July 2016, when 251 people died and over 2,000 were wounded.
