Moldova to borrow 300 million euros to ensure natural gas supply security

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today ratified the agreement on loan between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in order to implement the Natural Gas Supply Security project.

Under the document, Moldova’s government will borrow a loan worth 300 million euros, in order to create strategic stocks of natural gas and diversify the supply sources. Thus, the risks dealing with possible limitings or ceasings in the supply of natural gas, in the context of the political situation and evolution of the energy markets in the region, will be diminished.

The loan will be disbursed in two installments: 100 million euros and 200 million euros. The agreement on loan between Moldova and EBRD was signed on 23 June 2022.

The document will enter into force on the date of its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
