Drivers' fingerprint registration to be made with use of live scanners in Moldova

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - The fingerprint registration of drivers will be made only with the help of devices called live scanners. The parliament today adopted, in the final reading, a draft law on the simplification of the procedure of drivers’ fingerprint registration.

Under the document, the fingerprints and the palm prints will be taken over with the help of a device and the procedure of use of the fingerprint ink will be removed. The data will be registered in the automated information system, State fingerprint register, which will be managed by the territorial subdivisions of the Public Services Agency.

In 2015, The Interior Ministry benefited from European Union’s support, within which it received an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) worth 2.7 million euros. It provides possibilities of systematization, processing and taking over of both fingerprints and palm prints in digital format.
