Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - An employee of the Executive Committee of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauz-Yeri) was detained for faking tenders today.
According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA), on this case, officers made searches and raised assets in four locations of the autonomy, within a criminal file opened for abuse of power.
According to evidence, the civil servant would have fictitiously held tenders in which legal entities participated, managed, in fact, also by him.
Following illegal actions, more assets were bought for the needs of the Executive Committee of UTA Gagauz-Yeri at a higher price than the market one and thus a damage of hundreds of thousands of lei was caused to the autonomy’s budget.
The civil servant was detained and placed under arrest for 72 hours.
