Germany to continue backing Moldovan government to implement pro-European reforms agenda

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet met German Ambassador to Moldova Ulrike Knotz today. The officials praised the ascendant evolution of the Moldovan-German ties and spoke out for enhancing the economic cooperation, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Strelet thanked the German government, especially Chancellor Angela Merkel, for supporting Moldova’s European integration, significant technical and financial assistance provided to Moldova, as well as for Germany’s assistance and expertise mission.
„We highly appreciate a decision of the German authorities to keep Moldova in the list of states benefiting from assistance provided by the German government. We want a more active participation of German investors in the national economy. The Moldovan government is determined to undertake necessary actions in order to create infrastructure conditions, ensure financial stability, so that potential investors analyse possibilities and not risks,” Strelet said.
The sides also tackled the financial and banking stability, justice reform and fighting corruption, development of energy sector, Transnistrian conflict settlement. Strelet thanked Germany for the political support provided for settling the Transnistrian conflict. „We count on Germany’s support in the context of exercising the OSCE chairmanship in 2016,” Strelet said.
Ulrike Knotz congratulated Strelet on the swearing in office as prime minister of Moldova and assured him of Germany's every support to implement the pro-European reforms agenda. „Germany will continue to back and promote Moldova’s European integration agenda. It is very important that people here do well and stability be established in your country,” Knotz said.
Germany is in top of five principal trade partners of Moldova.
