Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Cabinet of Ministers, led by Valeriu Strelet, today held the first meeting with the districts heads, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In his welcoming message, the prime minister stressed the importance of close collaboration between the government and the leadership of all districts to solve the problems Moldovan localities were facing.
"Since 1992, Moldova has never gone through times more difficult than it does now. Through our joint actions, let us take responsibility for the people and either we will reap successes and their gratitude or face criticisms", Valeriu Strelet said.
The prime minister recommended them to establish, as fast as possible, the Association of District Heads, which would strengthen communication and would lead to a more efficient cooperation with central authorities.
Furthermore, the prime minister also underlined the need for the central and local public administration reform. "We have reached the threshold at which public office is not attractive for top professionals who can contribute to the country's development," Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet added.
The sides tackled the smooth work of district councils and cooperation with central authorities, formation of local budgets for 2016, as well as the management of public money according to the principles of good governance - transparency and efficiency. Among other topics discussed, there were preparation of education institutions for the academic year 2015-2016, as well as getting involved in organising the Independence Day and Our Language national holidays.
The interlocutors agreed that such meetings should be conducted monthly and as needed.
