Chisinau, Dec. 23 /MOLDPRES/- The territorial structures of psycho-pedagogical assistance received seven new cars. They will be used by multidisciplinary teams, composed of psychologists, speech therapists and psycho-pedagogues, who will be able to travel more easily to children with special needs in localities far from the district centers. The new transport units cost a total of 2.5 million lei, money allocated from the budget of the Republican Center for Psycho-pedagogical Assistance (CRAP).

The cars will serve Drochia, Balti, Glodeni, Ungheni, Falesti, Rezina, Soldanesti, Calarasi, Orhei, Criuleni, Dubasari, Causeni and Cimislia. Children from these districts and municipalities will have access to quality psycho-pedagogical support services at their place of residence, i.e. in the schools and kindergartens where they are enrolled.

Present at the donation of the new cars, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said that it is important that every child can benefit from the support they need from specialists, speech therapists, psychologists and psycho-pedagogues, regardless of the school where they study and regardless of the distance of the school from the district center.

CRAP Director Virginia Rusnac said that the new facilities will make the work of the multidisciplinary teams more qualitative and better adapted to the needs of the children, enabling the specialists to carry out their tasks as closely as possible to the needs of the beneficiaries.

Anastasia Terentiev, head of Dubasari Psycho-pedagogical Assistance Structure, noted that the lack of a means of transportation has so far been the biggest challenge faced by the institution's specialists.

CRAP went through a reorganization process this year, which entailed the centralization of the psycho-pedagogical assistance service across the country, increasing the number of employees from 20 to 350.
