Moldovan, Ugandan, Ghanaian officials tackle economic ties

Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ - Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Deputy Chairman Vladimir Didilica, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Russia Moses Ebuk, Moscow-based Ambassador of Ghana to Moldova Kodzo K. Alabo discussed developing economic relations between Moldova, Uganda and Ghana, as well as possibilities of enhancing trade between Moldova and the two countries, at meetings held in Chisinau on 25 August, according to CCI sources.
The CCI deputy chairman thanked the officials for their interest in expanding economic cooperation relations with Moldova and mentioned the willingness of the local business environment to cooperate with the concerned countries. Furthermore, the CCI representative stressed that the role of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry was to offer economic agents as many possibilities to develop business sales markets as possible, and in this respect, he highlighted the opportunity of support to conclude cooperation agreements with similar institutions of Uganda and Ghana, which would help boost the trade.
In this context, Ugandan Ambassador Moses Ebuk said that "Moldova is an important market for Uganda, given the direct access to the European market, thus Ugandan traders have potential and meet all provisions necessary to export to our country flowers, tea, cocoa and fish." Furthermore, the diplomat stressed that Moldovan wine was a product expected and appreciated by consumers from Uganda, with a high demand in local markets.
The two sides agreed on signing a cooperation agreement between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Moldova and Uganda, that will help develop relations between the two chambers, lay foundations for cooperation and trade between the two countries.
For his part, Ghanaian Ambassador Kodzo K. Alabo said the purpose of his visit was to establish possibilities of cooperation between business people from both countries. The official also informed that companies from Ghana were interested to develop partnerships with businesses of Moldova, and the most important area of focus would be agriculture, namely the export of exotic fruits and highest quality cocoa. At the same time, during the meeting, the sides agreed to organise a Moldovan-Ghanaian business forum.
