Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved amendments and additions to the National Action Plan for the implementation of the Moldova - European Union Association Agreement for 2014-2016.

The changes were made following the results recorded in the first quarters of implementation and recommendations by development partners. "The version approved in last October demanded more detailed changes and additions in order to carry out the Association Agreement, including the ones concerning the creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone", Foreign and European Integration Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Gherman said.

The updated plan includes actions to be implemented by 2017, is more accurate in respect of the deadlines for implementation of the proposed actions; at the same time, the plan has clarity and precision as regards the establishment of national public authorities in charge of the implementation measures.

Following the enforcement of these actions, Moldova "will register considerable progress on the way of fulfilling the conditions posed by the switch to the final stage of the European integration process," the Foreign and European Integration Ministry says.

The plan has 441 pages and includes over 430 actions. Amending the Constitution, adjusting the Criminal Code to international standards, and developing policies for strengthening relations between the two sides are among its priorities. The plan includes measures aimed at adjusting the Moldovan legislation to European standards and principles. To carry out the Agreement and actions provided for in the Plan, Moldova will receive assistance from EU and development partners.
