Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan and Romanian governments will negotiate a new Convention on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital. The cabinet of ministers today approved a decision empowering the official delegation to negotiate the document.
Currently, there is a convention between Moldova and Romania enforced starting from 1 January 1997, but its provisions go beyond the economic reality, notes the Finance Ministry.
The document will enter into force on the date of the last notification and its provisions shall have effect on or after 1 January of the calendar year immediately following the year in which the Convention enters into force.
Presently, Moldova has signed agreements on avoiding double taxation with 47 partner countries. So far, none of them has been denounced by either the Moldovan side or the partner states.
