Moldovan road administration, Italian company sign highway restoration agreement

Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/- The State Road Administration today signed an agreement on rehabilitation of the Balti-Falesti-Sculeni highway with the Impresa Pizzarotti company of Italy. The works are estimated at about 50 million euros, due to be provided by the European Investment Bank.

"We know that Italy avails of rich experience in terms of highways and has the best ones in Europe. We hope that this experience ,gained over the years, will be implemented in Moldova as well," Transport Minister Iurie Chirinciuc said.

The Italian company was selected following an international tender, in which seven companies participated, the director of the State Road Administration, Gheorghe Curmei, said. He added that a company had been hired to oversee the works.

Under the contract, the works are to be carried out during two years. Yet, the Italians promise that they will be performed before the term. "I can guarantee that we will carry out the works at high level and before the deadline set in the contract. The enterprise I lead  was founded in 1910. We work in 16 countries, we are used to fulfill the tasks we assume", the chief of the Pizzarotti company added.
