Moldova marks 24th anniversary of independence

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- Moldova today marks the 24th anniversary since proclamation of independence.
Events on this occasion started with laying flowers at the Stefan cel Mare monument and Eternity memorial compound, then a parade of folk costumes will be organised in the Great National Assembly Square.
The country's leadership will come up with speeches there, and the programme will continue with more events, among which a national fair of craftsmen and a concert with participation of more local singers.
The events dedicated to Independence Day will take place in all cities of the country today.
Attending the event is Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who will meet President Nicolae Timofti, Speaker Adrian Candu and Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet.
