Moldova's European path is most important project - speaker

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/-Moldova today marks the 24th anniversary of independence. Attending the event were Speaker Andrian Candu, along with other officials, guests, as well as residents, the parliament's communication and media relations department has reported.
Candu congratulated Moldovans on Independence Day, wishing them welfare, perseverance and new achievements. At the same time, he thanked all those who fought for the country's independence, including MPs of the first parliament who voted the Declaration of Independence.
Candu reiterated the authorities' commitment to continue the European integration so that Moldova should become soon a EU member state.
"Moldova's European path os the most important project we have to support and work further, so that our future in EU should be the one with convincing achievements leading to enhancing the living conditions for our people. Our commitment is to further work in order that Moldovans feel happy", he said.
The speaker participated in a parade of folk costume, held the third year in Chisinau.
Subsequently, Candu together with Culture Minister Monica Babuc and all those present at the event danced on the occiasion.
Events dedicated to Independence Day started with laying flowers at the Stefan cel Mare monument and Grieving Mother monument with the participation of the country's leadership, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, MPs, ministers, representatievs of central and local public authorities, diplomats and other officials.
