Romania to extend projects on supporting Moldova

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- Projects on supporting Moldova by Romania were discussed today by Parliament Speaker Anrian Candu and Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, on a visit to Chisinau, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The officials also approached a string of issues on the agenda of bilateral relations, supporting Moldova's European integration, political and economic developments and analyzed evolution of projects carried out in Moldova.

The speaker thanked Romania for financial support during the years, as well as for personal contribution of Ponta to good development of projects such as the one related to modernisation of kindergartens, restoration and equipment of the Mother and Child Institute, implementation of SMURD service. At the same time, Romania finances a string of projects in such sectors as: justice and internal affairs, energy efficiency, agriculture, education and civil society development.

The speaker also highlighted importance of promoting a common message on Moldova's European integration. Candu expressed openness for organising joint actions at legislative level with Romanian parliament and European Parliament.

In the context, Candu said that Romanian Speaker Valeriu Stefan Zgonea would visit Chisinau this autumn to discuss a string of issues on boosting interparliamentary cooperation. At the same time, the officials are to sign a new cooperation protocol between Moldovan and Romanian secretariats of parliament, as well as an action plan on cooperation between the two institutions.

For his part, Ponta reconfirmed Romania's support for Moldova's European integration, as well as for implementing policies on country's development.

"Romania will further back Moldova in completing the projects, and we initiate the new ones in important fields for Chisinau. Every time we come in Moldova we want to find better and see better things", he said.

"It is the third year when you are with us on Independence Day and this becomes already a tradition. A tradition should be the fact that you would have national costumes at each meeting", Candu said at the end.
