Moldovan premier, Italian businesspeople discuss commercial, economic ties

Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet and more Italian businessmen, who are also potential candidates for the position of honorary consul to Moldova, tackled the intensification of bilateral commercial and economic ties, identified new investment opportunities and touched upon the Moldovan diaspora in Italy, on 29 August, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The meeting was held within the governmental visit of the Moldovan delegation to the "Milano 2015" international exhibition.
“The Moldovan government aims to maintain the macro-financial stability, develop economy and modernise infrastructure. We want to create a better environment for foreign investors, including the Italian ones,” the premier said.
The sides have also discussed the successful integration of the Moldovans into the Italian society and the labour market. Strelet highlighted the need to further push through the reforms in various sectors and therefore improve life standards in Moldova.
“Moldovans should feel safe in their country, whereas those working abroad should be given a reason to return home. We will take enhanced efforts to create new high-paid jobs. I am convinced we will succeed to achieve this goal in the end,” Strelet noted.
According to Italian businesspeople, investors are interested to invest in Moldova and turn to account its development prospects. They added that Italy is one of the main countries willing to launch businesses in Moldova.
Italy’s foreign investments rank second, whereas the number of Italian capital companies active on the Moldovan market reaches 1162.
