Moldovan premier visits universal exhibition in Milan

Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/- A delegation headed by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet visited Moldova’s pavilion, at the Expo Milano 2015 exhibition on 29 August, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Officials gave speeches, performed the national anthem and raised the Moldovan flag during the official inauguration of Moldova’s National Day. “For the first time ever, Moldova has its own pavilion at the Expo Milano 2015 exhibition, though it has already participated in two international exhibitions since proclaiming its independence. We were proud to unveil Moldova’s achievements at the Hanover and Shanghai exhibitions. We are here to support Moldova’s participation in the Expo Milano 2015 exhibition, along with other 140 states,” Strelet noted.
According to the premier, the exhibition is a good opportunity to promote Moldova’s image worldwide. “We tried to build a pavilion with a sense of combined tradition and modernity. We want to show the world the beauty of our traditional cuisine, beverages and agricultural culture. We are now able to reveal the best parts of Moldova's ancestral heritage. The Milan exhibition opens new doors to international partnerships and opportunities to improve the sale markets of Moldova’s products,” the prime minister said.
Italian Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Benedetto Della Vedova welcomed Moldova’s participation in the Milano 2015 exhibition, with its own pavilion. According to him, this proves the excellent quality of the Moldovan-Italian commercial and economic ties. The official added that Moldovans had successfully integrated into the Italian society.
The delegates visited Moldova’s pavilion and were traditionally greeted with bread and salt. The Moldovan premier left a message in the Honour Guestbook of the Milano 2015 universal exhibition. Moldova’s delegation has also stopped by the Russian, Romanian, Austrian and the American pavilions, following to visit the French, Chinese and Belarusian pavilions.
Part of the Moldovan delegation to the Milano 2015 exhibition are Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, Deputy Prime Minister, Economy Minister Stephan Bride, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Ion Sula, Culture Minister Monica Babuc as well as Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organisation (MIEPO) Executive Director Dona Scola.
The official inauguration of Moldova’s pavilion in the “Expo Milano 2015” exhibition was held on 1 May 2015. The pavilion will be open for visitors until 31 October 2015.
