Moldovan premier meets Italian official

Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/- A delegation led by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, met the president of the Italian region of Lombardy, Roberto Maroni, in Milan on 30 August. The officials tackled the enhancement of trade and economic ties as well as development prospects the agriculture and tourism, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The Moldovan prime minister thanked the Italian government and the authorities of Lombardy region for welcoming the Moldovan delegation, voicing willingness to diversify bilateral relations. “Cooperation opportunities are rather high, therefore we should turn them to account. Boosting governmental collaboration is also important. Apart from the Moldovan-Italian forum, due in September, we could also carry out a string of common actions, beneficial for both sides,” the premier noted.
Strelet reconfirmed the Moldovan government’s goals to develop the economy and modernise the country. “A strong economy will help us find solutions to the rest of the problems. Compared to highly developed countries, where business ideas are hard to find, Moldova has lots of free ground to launch businesses. We need new experiences and development partners in order to offer Moldovan citizens qualitative results,” the prime minister said.
The president of Lombardy region reconfirmed his willingness to further support Moldovan citizens in Italy as well as to promote Moldova’s image, products, culture and traditions. “We support Moldova’s EU integration efforts. Your participation in the EXPO Milano 2015 exhibition is a good opportunity to show your strong sides. We value our cooperation and would like to further boost bilateral ties, especially in tourism”, Maroni said.
The officials have also touched upon the need to sign agreements on social protection and labour migration, in order to ensure a responsible management of migration policies and processes. The sides said it was important to sign a bilateral agreement on social security and implement the agreement on labour migration.
The officials’ meeting is part of the Moldovan delegation’s visit to the EXPO Milano 2015 universal exhibition.
