International Book Fair inaugurated in Moldova

Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ - More than 8,000 book titles, edited in 15 countries, are presented within the International Book Fair in Chisinau on 31 August - 3 September. The fourteenth issue of the salon was inaugurated today.
At the inauguration, National Library of Moldova Director Elena Pintilie said that the fifth issue of the National Festival of Books and Reading started at the same time. Both events are dedicated to the departed poet and philosopher, librarian Alexe Rau, the founder of the Book Fair, who passed away on 8 April 2015.
"Within the salon, the European Union’s publications, which arrived in Chisinau with the assistance of the EU Delegation in Moldova, will also be presented. These books will be distributed to district libraries in the country to bring the benefits of European integration closer to citizens", Pintilei stressed.
Attending the event, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Andrei Spinu, urged the youth to read as many books as possible. "There is no shortage of books, we are not in the situation when the book is hidden from you, nor do we lack authors. By reading books, we will become a developed, wise nation, thus moving forward" added Andrei Spinu.
Within the National Festival of Books and Reading, meetings with writers will be organised in Leova, Orhei, Straseni, Telenesti, Causeni, Hincesti, Cimislia, Anenii Noi and Calarasi.
