Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Bureau for Reintegration deems the demonstrations held on 2 September in Tiraspol as aimed at undermining internationally recognized principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova. The ideology of these events is contrary to the Transnistrian conflict settlement and worries through its strong emphasis of the military aspect.

While the Moldovan people marked the Independence Day with a parade of national costumes, through cultural events, concerts and art exhibitions, by promoting the spirit of conciliation and peace, in Transnistria, hate propaganda, demonstrations of force, military applications are enhanced. We believe that this aggressive and self-isolation signals are against the interests of the residents of Transnistria, especially against the background of the worsening of the social and economic situation and refusal to continue negotiations for a final political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.

In view of the above, we are convinced that the Transnistrian conflict settlement and resolution of all dissensions must occur by political means, observing the principles of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, within the internationally recognized borders granting the Transnistrian region a special legal status.

The Bureau for Reintegration believes this is the only perspective that will allow ensuring democratic values, human rights and fundamental freedoms, will settle the economic, social, legal and humanitarian problems the residents on the both sides of the Dniester River are facing as a result of the political and military conflict launched a quarter century ago to undermine the independence of Moldova.
