Japan to boost promoting "Wine of Moldova" brand

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today met special advisor to the prime minister of Japan, member of the Japanese House of Representatives Taro Kimura. Attending the event was also Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman. The talk was focused on deepening the Moldovan-Japanese cooperation and identifying potential collaboration sectors, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
Strelet thanked the official for congratulatory message by the Japanese prime minister and interest in developing relations with Moldova. In the context, Strelet expressed willingness to have a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Shinzo Abe, within the session of the UN General Assembly, due in New York in the near future.
"We highlight the good Moldovan-Japanese relations of the last years and reiterate the need to organise exchange of visits at high level," he said.
The sides discussed the development of bilateral ties, especially referring to considering the opportunity to set up a joint commission for economic cooperation. Also, they appreciated Japan's assistance in different sectors, through implementing projects in agriculture, education and medicine.
For his part, Taro Kimura reconfirmed willingness to back Moldova in promoting investments, as well as to provide consultancy necessary for ensuring economic development and improving conditions for business development in Moldova. Kimura reiterated the interest in promoting export of Moldovan wines to Japan. "We are open to discuss possibilities to increase the quota of wine imports from Moldova and boost promotion of the country brand - "Wine of Moldova" on the Japanese market," he said.
The sides underlined the importance to open diplomatic missions of Moldova and Japan in the capitals of both countries, which would boost the high-level dialogue and would facilitate setting the sectoral cooperation agenda.
